Architectural interior finishings' configurator

Interior finishings' configurator

This interior finishings' configurator shows why Creator is used by a number of architectural design firms for concept and design presentation. The model was originally sourced from Turbo Squid as a 3DS Max file. The geometry was then optimized for real time presentation and lit using simple V-Ray lighting. Real time reflection, drag and drop material application, screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) and faux radiosity-based coloring were then added within Creator.

Meshes and Metadata example

Interior example with metadata

Creator ships with numerous meshes and models which are accessible from the asset browser. This architectural scene shows some of those meshes in context; it shows how to switch camera views and how to use metadata for pricing and catalog information. The scene also shows how to use post processing shaders to change the look and feel of the application.

Note: the source file for this scene and the shaders used do not currently ship with Creator but are available for download and can only be opened in a full registered version of the software.[Source Files] [Demo] [Video]

La Fornace dell'Innovazione - business park

La Fornace dell'Innovazione - business park

How do you convey the unique architectural atmosphere and facilities of a new innovation park? This was the challenge handed to Metaverso, an Italian visualization firm, when they were asked to create this interactive presentation for Treviso Tecnologia, Italy. This 19th century furnace has been renovated and converted into an exhibition hall, conference center, offices and a state-of-the-art underground 20-unit business incubator facility.

Virtual heritage

Palazzo Izimbardi - virtual heritage

Another application created by Metaverso, this shows the history of a Milanese Palace (Palazzo Izimbardi) over several centuries. Metaverso used interactive 3D graphics to communicate the historical events which led to urban change in Milan over time. As the evolution of the building is discussed, the change in the urban environment is reflected in the buildings' surroundings. This application was installed as part of a visitor kiosk in the palace.

Villa

Villa - real time demo using EC 3.7

This application was created by German Zamorano (3D model artist) and Wang Jing (shader developer) to demonstrate real time reflection and refraction off water and glass in an architectural context. Other examples of their work can be seen at http://rtshaders.deviantart.com and http://german01.deviantart.com

Using post processing shaders

Using post processing shaders

A post processing shader provides a means to change the final display of a 3D scene - similar to running a Photoshop effect on a still image. This video shows how simple it is to apply post processing shaders to your scene.

Concept Car - simple presentation

Concept car - presentation example

This technical demonstration illustrates the use of Creator for developing presentation and kiosk type applications for showcasing design concepts; in this case, a concept car. Shaders are used throughout the scene and the shader in use is indicated via metadata, and displayed in an on-screen information box which can be toggled on or off. Creator delivers a comprehensive set of tools for designers and media developers to easily create innovative interactive applications for presenting new product ideas, design concepts through to point-of-sale presentations and post-sales service applications.

Requirements: This demo requires a video card that can display shaders. [Demo] [Video]

Simple example product configurator

Ka - color configurator

This simple Ford Ka color configurator shows how easy and powerful product configurators can be built using Creator. The model uses reflection maps and diffuse materials on the outer body. Dynamically changing the diffuse material color, in response to a mouse click, changes the color of the car. A number of thumbnail images are included in the UI which, when clicked, trigger camera viewpoint transitions. It is also possible to open the doors, beep the horn, move the front chairs and view the car from any angle.

industrial equipment presentation

Skid steer - product presentation

How do you enable a salesman to take a 930kg piece of equipment in his briefcase? You make it virtual. This technical demonstration shows an interactive presentation of a skid steer vehicle. The user can drive the vehicle, trigger the vertical lift linkage, view the skid steer from an exterior perspective or interior driver's seat view. The demonstration combines key frame and event animation to create an interactive virtual skid steer that is significantly lighter than the real thing!

Broadcast and interactive media

Broadcast interactive media

This short clip shows an application being used on air by a major US broadcaster to explain 'in-race' engine issues in the NASCAR, Nextel Cup. Interacting with the 3D model via touchscreen, the presenter can control what is presented and highlight different engine failure scenarios to help explain what has happened within the race. The application was seen by over 7 million viewers.

Standard, high definition (HD) and streaming video

Standard, high definition (HD) and streaming video

Creator offers a number of methods to incorporate video material and supports both standard and high definition video content. Video content can be streamed from a server using HTTP streaming direct to a material applied to geometry in the scene. In this example, no programming/scripting is used. The entire scene is built with a simple drag and drop approach that is used to apply materials, animations and user interactions.

Requirements: Windows media player 11 (for video codec) and an internet connection (for streaming). [Demo] [Video]

Medical equipment guided maintenance

Medical equipment guided maintenance

Created as part of a solution for a major medical equipment manufacturer, this short video shows a guided maintenance aid to assist technical service professionals in the field. The uptime of the equipment is critically important to both those that rely on the chemical analysis, and also for the manufacturer, who leases the equipment with performance guarantees. The 3D guided maintenance aid helps reduce the amount of time required to maintain complex equipment.

MRI real time data visualization

MRI data visualization

This demonstration highlights the power of Creator's shader capabilities. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data is stored in a volume texture and rendered in real time using Creator volume shaders. The UI options enable the user to dynamically light and color the MRI data set. In addition, the volume of data being displayed can be controlled allowing the user to smoothly expand through bone and tissue layers.

Requirements: This demo requires a video card that can display shaders. [Demo] [Video]

Virtual shark

Virtual shark

Also by Dr.Mike Paulin's team at Otago University, New Zealand, this scene shows the 3D interactive model of sensory cues used by the dogfish shark (Squalus acanthias). About 80% of incoming visible light gets through the atmosphere but only 25% of light at the surface gets as deep as 10m in the ocean. Less than 1% makes it to 100m. Squalus likes to hunt in the deep dark ocean, where humans would see almost nothing even in the clear water. This scene explains how Squalus can sense prey in this environment.

Automotive guided maintenance trainer

Automotive guided maintenance trainer

Creator is widely used for development of advanced training applications. This example scene shows an application for guided automotive maintenance. Using original CAD design data converted using Right Hemisphere's 'Deep Exploration', the CAD model was imported as a .RH file and Creator was then used to add animation and interactivity to create the maintenance procedures. As the trainee works through the training sequence, audio files are played describing each step, and each action is guided by visual cues.
