I agree not too much has changed in animations, but there's been some things added:

Just offhand I see:

AI Steer
Contact Particles
Activate Callback
Socket Messages
Collison on/off

There's also some new stuff in alterations.
Looks good so far!

hi gt,

if you used the 2.5 beta you won't see a huge number of BIG feature items.

What there are a lots and lots (literally hundreds) of small improvements to existing features and a large number of bug fixes, some big internal changes to support future developments, improved stability and a solid core foundation for which we will be building upon through out the 3.x series of releases and beyond.

Our shader capabilities and render to texture architecture got huge improvements and I think the real time reflection and water effects show these off.

Socket animations and API socket support extend the types of network and multi-user apps you can build with Creator.

The drag and drop developments from the asset browser simplify a lot of content creation/material application.

The video streaming capabilities that are in todays preview release all take the product to a higher level.

Handles/Grips in the object primitives and some of the UI controls -are part of larger plan to make our UI more intuitive and very very creative user friendly

Overal 3.0 is really the foundation we will be building upon, we needed to ensure that foundation was solid to enable the types of development that many users have requested as future additions.

So if your looking for huge amounts of additional capabilities for AI, or real time ambient occlusion, game dev features etc in this initial release, I'm sorry but your are not going to find them. However because of all the work we have done in 3.0, it enables you to build upon Creator with confidence and enables us to now focus on these sorts of developments (plus a whole lot more) as we go forward.

Hope this helps

- Phillip

hi GT, FF

- if you get time check out http://tv.adobe.com/# which is where adobe publish various product videos, blogs etc. Look for the one with Kevin Lynch and the Adobe Air team. its a great video on what it takes to develop software. At one point one of their QA team says they fixed 3000 bugs in Adobe AIR.

Complex products have bugs - we're open about what we can fix and get done. Sometimes to get a smooth path to the future - thats where you concentrate and thats what we choose to do with 3.0.

We are really glad to hear your enjoying working with the new version.

cheers,

Phillip
