Hi Peter,

EC works well on Vista, several of our development machines are Vista. With all the new security stuff in Vista we have seen some weirdness’s with DirectX, these all seem to be Microsoft related.

There is no way to actually "downgrade" DirectX, once you have a greater version of DX on your machine it will always be there. One of the Golden DX rules used to be that once Microsoft Installed the latest version of DX, all older versions would work too. This appears to no longer be the case, as we have seen reports of missing DX 9.0c files installed on a DX 10 machine.

What is the exact message that EC is giving you?

You should be able to install DX 9.0c from the MS site and not affect your DX10. To make matters worse there are several versions of DX9c from MS, all with different installed files. You'll need to make sure you install the November 2007 release.

I hope that helps, please let us know what happens.

Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I've installed 9.0c beside dx10 and now it works fine.

Thank you very much.

This has tripped me a few times not only with EC. It turns out that MS in their wisdom release new builds of DirectX 9.0c and the name stays the same. It should probably be "f" by now.
We have tried EC with the latest build of DX9.0c, which is June 2008, and it works fine.
