I guess from the announcement & demo (http://www.esperient.com/images/stories/PDFs/news/NewsReleaseSmartObjectsOctober08.pdf), smart objects & intelligent materials will be very useful. The announcement implies that these features are currently implemented in EC, but they are not, are they? Help search finds no entries for either (latest release, 2097). The demo, being an .exe, gives no hint about how to use them, and leaves me wondering exactly what they can do. For example, could I write a script to draw a shape or fill a region in uv coordinates? My application is mapping intensity data onto surfaces. Currently I am using vertex coloring, which gives kinda ragged edges. Do you have a target date for an EC release with smart objects & intelligent materials (and, please, some documentation)?

hi Mike,

Smart Objects and Intelligent materials are the marketing names for extensions to the scripting and shader models in Creator which enables better componentisation of scenes, scripts and shaders. These extensions are actually in the latest beta release however the docs are not finished yet - we are currently working on the help docs for 3.1.

In the mean time for some info -please see the white paper here which gives some background information / overview:
